Offered here is a 10-inch tall Hubley c. 1930 “A Difficult Lie” Cast Iron Doorstop.

The Hubley Manufacturing Company began in 1894 and produced cast iron toys and household objects such as bookends and doorstops. Their products were painted by hand. 

The back of this cast iron doorstop is marked with a factory impressed “238,” which indicates, in part, that this is an original c.1930 Hubley doorstop titled "A Difficult Lie."
