Made by George Nicol of Leven, Scotland, this Par putter has a tall convex face designed to impart topspin. The back of the head is stamped "Par Putter, Patents Pending, US, Canada, & Gt Britain." It is also stamped with George Nicols hand cleekmark and "Hand Forged In Scotland."
The blade on this exceedingly rare putter has a strong visual presence. You can see it handing on a wall 10 feet away and know that the club with its squared off toe is highly unusual. The square toe on this putter is a reflection on the square toe irons made during the 1700s. The club is in marvelous condition, and has its original shaft and leather-wrap grip.
