Gunmetal blade putters gained popularity during the 1890s. This one was made by the 1887 and 1889 British Open champ, Willie Park, and is stamped "W. Park Maker, Musselburgh" as well as "P.F. Murphy & Co., London Harness Agency, Devonshire Street, Boston" inside an oval on the back of the blade.
The shaft and sheepskin grip are original. The club bears the inventory labels of Fred X. Fry, the pioneering collector who acquired this club from his brother Dick Fry in 1940. For more on Fred Fry and his place in early american golf collecting, Click Here
