This surface of this c. 1890s Cunningham's Remade solid gutty ball is a little marked up, but not overly so. The name on both poles is still clear with no major strike marks. It appears to have had a little paint added in recent times, to highlight the name and surface pattern.
Well over a century ago, remade golf balls were a part of the game. Old
used gutty balls would sometimes be reclaimed and then remolded into new gutty
balls. After all, gutta percha golf balls were made from molded gutta
percha in the first place, and gutta percha is gutta percha.
Solid Gutta Percha balls from the 1890s, like this one, always fit well into any collection.
