The few Holbrook Club Carriers that are known are typically dated c.1900, but that is incorrect.  According to an undated Holbrook Club Carrier advertisement in the auctioneer’s possession, this wood and leather contraption was not “designed to take the place of a golf bag,” but to carry six to eight clubs “for practice, for five o’clock golf . . . around putting greens . . . anywhere and anytime you don’t want to be bothered with a full pack.”  Judging from the attire of the golfers in the advertisement and the advertisement itself, the Holbrook dates somewhere around 1930, give or take.

Overall, this wonderful golf club caddy shows moderate wear and presents well. The ball bag shows significant wear.  The leather club cup and leather carry straps are intact and fully functioning. The wood frame is in excellent condition and bears a somewhat worn “Holbrook Club Carrier” decal label.  Wooden club carriers are in a class all their own.
