The back of this blade is thicker behind the toe and heel, which makes this club one of the first heel-and-toe weighted putters ever produced. When this club was patented under a 1912 British patent (#10502), it quickly became nothing more than an extremely rare oddity.

Early 20th century clubmakers did not understand the principle of MOI that heel/toe weighting provided, a principle that, many decades later, would become a core element of clubmaking.  Indeed, Gilbert Legh's The Leader putter was almost a half-century ahead of Karsten Solheim and his revolutionary PING Model 1A on the list of heel-and toe-weighted putters.

The hickory shaft and leather wrap grip in this historic club are original. The back of the blade still retains its original stamps.
