George Forrest of Elie, Scotland, produced this iron with a solid knob on the toe. According to a review published in the 1895 issue of Golf, the solid knob "counter-balances the weight of the socket, and enables the player to get away a straight ball."  Call this the first hosel-and-toe weighted iron!

Most of the head markings have been worn off, but you can still see the remnant of what the auctioneer believes is the patent number.  Overall, the club looks handsome.

Original 38 5/8" shaft and leather-wrapped grip. Condition as shown in images.
