Made by Tom Stewart and marked "RTJ"—the initials of Bobby Jones—this iron is steeped in history.  Tom Stewart, the St. Andrews cleekmaker who made most of the irons that Jones used during his career, made a few "extra's" in 1930 after he made a "backup set" for Jones. When Jones found out about this he asked Stewart to stop producing clubs marked with his initials.  Stewart complied but not before a few clubs bearing Jones's initials made it into the marketplace.  The dot punched into the back of the head, right on top of the 'N" in "Iron" is Tom Stewart's personal inspection mark.

The back of the iron's head is stamped as pictured, and the sole of the iron has the number "4."

The original 37 1/8" shaft also has "W. Yeoman/ Chicago" stamped into it, near the grip. Beautiful original leather wrapped grip.
