This Daisy metalwood driver was produced by the Aluminum Golf Head Co. of Newark, NJ, under a US patent dated October 15, 1901, and issued to Henry De Long Vehslage.  The wood block in the face extends well back into the head and is held in place by two side walls, a rear wall, and three screws extending up through the sole.  The design was intended to combine the feel of wood with the durability of metal. The head has significant bag wear and the top of the aluminum hosel has two small chips. The original sheepskin grip on the original shaft shows some wear.

As one of the first metalwoods ever patented and produced in America, this is a historic piece.  The auctioneer has seen only three Daisy metalwoods.  This is the very club pictured in TCA2 Volume 1 page 345.  A signed copy of the page will accompany this club
