During the late 1970s and well into the 1980s vintage MacGregor Tommy Armour woods and irons were not only popular, they bordered on magical and carried a definite mistique. The after market demand for many such MacGregor clubs—especially the pro-line persimmon woods—grew to levels where good players would often pay prices that exceeded the cost of the clubs when new.

Produced in 1959. This MacGregor Tourney PT1W Velocitized persimmon driver is in clean original condition.  It shows light use, but is solid and boasts a healthy face depth.  Back in the day, better players liked MacGregor drivers with deeper faces as is found on this club.  The varnish is worn on the face and a bit of the wood there has some discoloring. Even so, the wood is solid and the club is none the worse for wear.  The original finish across the rest of the head sparkles.  The club still retains its original neck numbers on the back of its head.

The Pro-Pel Action 1 firm 43” shaft is original as is the leather wrapped grip, but with a missing end cap.

Produced in 1957, the MacGregor R75W Super Eye-O-Matic 2 wood is also in its original condition, with original finish, shaft, and leather-wrapped grip that is missing its end cap.  there is a small scrape to the finish on the top of the head, but worse things abound...  While 2-woods were once quite popular, now, as today's game is played, they live in the land of the dynasaur....  This makes for an interesting collectible in its own right..

The consignor, who is not a golfer, inherited these clubs from his father who worked at MacGregor during the 1950s and 60s.
