In 1923 Golfer's Magazine did the following write-up on this unique putter:

"The Mac & Mac Putter gives you a dead line on the hole--instantly. The "pointed back" demands that your swing stay on the line of the putt. Its extra weight prevents 'stabbing the ball,' forcing you to let the putter head do the word--giving you an uncanny control over distance.

"The grip and shaft are semi-square, automatically lining up the head, square with the hole. The grip fits naturally and delicately in the fingers giving the very necessary 'feel' and 'confidence' which makes you sink all the 'short ones' and helps you sink most of the 'long ones.'

"It is your long hoped for putter. The more you use it, the more you will swear by it, as it will help eliminate the 'off days' in your putting.

"Head is composed of highly polished German silver. Workmanship and material used in grip, shaft, and finish are of highest possible quality, making each individual putter a masterpiece of the club makers art."

When these putters are found, they are often heavily bag worn as the german silver (a nickel silver alloy) used to make the heads is a softer material. The condition of the head on the putter offered here, however, is well above average. (In real life, the bit of bag wear on the head is not as noticable as it is in the magnified images that accompany this listing.)  This specific putter has its original shaft that is square both at the hosel and under the leather grip. It is round everywhere else.
