Bing Crosby was not only a famous Hollywood star, but he was a respectable golfer as well! Bing thought it would be a good thing to sponsor his own pga tour golf tournament, inviting his A-list friends to play as teams with professionals for prize money. Everyone could learn a little bit about golf, and enjoy a fun clambake afterwards! This event was played on prestigious courses like Pebble Beach and drew in not only some of the biggest names in golf and Hollywood, but some of the biggest golf broadcast audiences.

As Bing Crosby continued to encourage his associates to host tournaments on courses around the country, truly his little "Clambake" helpd establish the modern PGA tour as it exists today.
