This "The Spalding" 1897 driver and brassie are some of Spalding's oldest.  The splice neck heads are in wonderful condition. The wood on both is clean.  Both have their original shafts which are stamped "The Spalding."

The driver measures 43 3/4" and only a few small remnants of the original sheepskin grip remain on top of the original wrapped wool underlisting. The brassie measures 43 1/8", and still has its original sheepskin grip. There are a few dings on the soleplate of the brassie, but the wood head itself remains in outstanding original condition.

This pair of woods were two of the earliest to be made in America. Their heads are distinctly transitional, and few American made transitionals have survived to this day.
