Designed by Josh Taylor, the younger brother of JH Taylor, and covered under a British Patent dated February 20, 1912, this iron is one of only three that uses raised face scoring. Deep groove backspin irons, waffle face irons, brick face clubs, etc. have their patterns formed by removing metal from the face. On this club, however, the brambles protrude out from a solid face.

The back of the head has suffered from some rust pitting, but much of the lettering remains including the
"Patent Applied.... " and the year "12."  This is a highly unusual and exceedingly rare club.
