The head and shaft of this brassie are made from a single, solid piece of wood.  There is no neck joint.  The club appears to be little used.  The face insert, horn, and lead back weight are original. There are a few small stains to the shaft and a small, thin crack filled in under the toe.  There is also a repair (a gouge/chip might have been filled many years ago) to the top of the head.  This repair is definitely there but its not the end of the world.  It looks a bit like a knot in the wood and has nothing to do with the primary feature of this club, which is that it is made from one piece of wood.

The head and face on this club are beautifully crafted. The head is stamped "BGI Co" with their rampant lion trademark. The shaft is also stamped BGI up near the grip which is an old replacement from the period.  Most people would not be able to tell that the grip is not original to the club.  It matches up exceptionally well.

For all of its minor imperfections, there is still a great deal that is right about this club. Nothing wrong with a highly collectible club that has a little character.
