This early 1960s Ping BLD Ballnamic putter is marked with the Scottsdale address on the back of the blade. The putter has its original 35" shaft, Pro Only grip, black grip collar, and its worn Ballnamic shaft band.

This putter also has the famed Ping double angle grip, where the shaft under the grip is bent back towards the golfer and away from the target when the golfer is addressing the ball. This bend would actually help the golfer square up the putter head and keep it square as it moved through the ball. It worked so well that even Jack Nicklaus used a Ping putter with the double angle grip, until the USGA ruled against against croquet putters and and shafts with any kind of bend! These bends, created by either Karsten or his son John (Ping's current CEO), were installed one club at a time, after the head had been shafted.

The genesis of Karsten's double angle grip is covered in great detail in Chapter 3 "The Bent is Meant" of And The Putter Went Ping. His run-in with the USGA over the angled grips is included in Chapter 4.

This is an outstanding early Ping Scottsdale putter!
