James Hutchison Jr and his father made clubs as a sideline before
going into business together. The years when all this took place are not
very clear, other than they likely opened their business somewhere
around 1880.
The c1880s Hutchison play club is in great shape. The original
finish and name stamp are strong. The neck whipping is original. The 43 3/4" shaft and sheepskin grip are original. the shaft bears an inventory label from a prior collection. in short, this is a beautiful club that shows little to no actual use.
This shapely head measures 5 1/2" in length, 1 7/8" wide, and 1
1/16" in face depth.
