When Burke originally offered this backspin iron in the early 1920s, it was advertised as having a “checkered” face. Today it has been dubbed a waffle face for obvious reasons. This example is made out of Monel metal, which has a high nickel content (67%) but does not use any iron. As such the clubs are non-magnetic and never rust.
The head is stamped "WG Fraser / Special / Mashie" (along with accompanying cleekmarks). Original 36" shaft and leather wrapped grip.
