Arthur Weaver (1918-2008) was a brilliant and highly-respected twentieth century artist. His golf prints can be found the world over, wherever golf is played.  His original golf paintings have long been sought after. This original Arthur Weaver painting of the Old Course at St. Andrews was executed, signed, and dated by the artist in 1980.  One might not initially realize it, but this painting touches on four holes. Weaver placed three golfers putting out on the 10th green in the center of the image. To the left is the par-3 8th tee from which two golfers are walking.  To the right behind the mound is a golfer on the 11th tee.  The two golfers along the far right edge of the painting are on the 9th tee.

Weaver titled this watercolor and gouache painting "St. Andrews Old Course At the Turn with the 10th Green. Fife"  He wrote this by hand directly below the painting proper. Weaver's title has been covered over by the matt, but an image was taken of the title and is included along with the original "Sportsman's Edge Ltd" label that was on the back of the painting when it was originally sold 53 years ago.  For decades Weaver used the Sportsman's Edge, a prominent art gallery in New York City, to sell his work.

Hole 10 on the old course is named "Bobby Jones" after the three-Time Open champ who won at St. Andrews in 1927. The painting itself measures 22" x 17" and framed it measures 31" x 25".  It has been well cared for and still looks absolutely wonderful.  Who would not want to walk into that painting and go play?

What a nice piece of the Old Course at St. Andrews to enjoy on the wall of your choice.  No print here—this is the real deal.  The painting appears to be untouched and without flaw, and the framing is beautiful.
