What would you give for the autograph of the first person who ever won the British Open?  While a signature takes a few seconds to execute, Willie Park Sr. spent many hours to make this work of art with his own hands. Some of the original finish/varnish is worn off the top of the head right behind the face. However, the wood underneath is solid and and similar in color to the original finish. In a few spots, the color of the wood has been discreetly touched up, and there is a small sliver of brown filler material in what appears to be a scratch in the face. You have to look hard to see it in the fourth image, but it is there.

This 39-inch short spoon still presents well, rich in character with no question of its age.  The wood across the top of the head behind the face is solid.  There is a tiny bit of grain separation on the face towards the toe, but it is relatively insignificant and does not detract from the beauty of the club.  Horn, lead, shaft and grip all appear to be original.  Willie Park's stamp is strong on the head. Willie Park Sr. won four British Opens beginning with the first in 1860.  He is truly one of THE most historical figures of the 19th century.
