This circa 1900 Varsity Home Golfer Patent captive ball device, was made by Anderson Anderson & Anderson Ltd of London, England. The exterior appears to be completely made out of cast iron. There was once a ball on the end of the cord, and the cord was likely longer than it is now, but it could measure "practice drives" up to 300 yard in length!
