This is a beautiful golf club. The back is stamped NGK, which is the abbreviation for NGK Metals Corporation.  The face is stamped BeCu, as the head is made out of Beryllium Copper.  Just below the original Golf Pride Pro Only grip is a PING 'Heel-Toe Balance" shaft band. This club, however, was not made by PING.  in 1994-1995-1996 Bobby Grace made 50 Scottsdale Anser-style putters out of BeCu and BeNi and gave them as gifts to NGK Metals employees for their help in previous years. They were cast, hand ground, and hand-milled. These putters were given additional markings on the head such as production run numbers, Grace's name, etc.  The "NGK-only" heads, like the one offered here, were given to NGK's "higher ups," according to Grace in an email sent to the auctioneer.  NGK took care of shafting a few of these clubs. Needless to say, these are rare.

Kawecki Berylco Industries, for whom PING made a few BeCu putters n the early 1970s, was purchased by NGK in 1986, as shown below:

1968 - Consolidation of Kawecki Chemical Co., Boyertown, PA and The Beryllium Corporation, Temple, PA into Kawecki Berylco Industries (KBI) (Oct. 15, 1968)

1978 - KBI becomes Wholly-Owned Subsidiary of Cabot Corporation.

1986 - Cabot Corporation reaches agreement with NGK Insulators Ltd, Nagoya, Japan on sale of Beryllium Alloy business. In October of that year NGK Metals Corporation is established.
