Measuring 6 1/4 inches in diamater, this sterling silver plate bears what appears to be the likeness of Donald Ross playing the 6th hole at Pinehurst No. 2. The elevated sand teebox on the right side of the plate reads "No. 6 186 Yards". Checking some Pinehurst No. 2 scorecards, the 6th hole plays around 178 from the white tees today. The view from the tee on this plate matches up well with the view from the tee of the actual 6th hole at Pinehurst No. 2.
The back of the plate is marked "R B Co," the maker's mark of R. Blackinton of North Attleboro, MA, and also "Sterling", "sports-ware", and "3022". The plate weighs 3 3/4 ounces. There are a few small, minor dings to the plate, but nothing abusive. R. Blackinton opened for business in 1862. The engraving on the plate is excellent in its detail. The plate could use a light polish, which would make it really shine!.
