Modeled after the Max-Mo putter produced under Norman Main's 1929 British patent, this Wilson "Concave Face" putter has two distinct features.  First, it has a face that is concave heel to toe. Second, it has lead weights in the heel and toe. Each weight is accessed at the sole and is covered with its own brass sole plate.

Main calcuulated that the added weight and curved face would compensate for the lost distance and wrong direction usually imparted to a miss-hit putt as follows: When striking the ball on the heel or toe, the extra weight located there would restore the distance lost by missing the sweetspot, and the curve at the heel and toe would redirect the ball back towards the hole. Of course his design did not work as hoped, but back in the day the idea sounded good.

What is also interesting about the Max-Mo and Wilson Concave Face putters is their heel and toe weighting predates Karsten Solheim's heel- and toe-weighted PING putters by three decades.  Unlike the Max-Mo and Concave Face putters, Karsten's putters would revolutionize the game.  The difference was Karsten was an engineer and, unlike earlier clubmakers, he knew how to properly apply heel and toe weighting in a putter (and all clubs) to the golfer's advantage.

The Concave Face putter offered here has its original "Wilson" decal on the crown and is marked "Concave Face" on the sole. Its 32 1/2" original shaft has its original leather wrap grip. Wilson offered the Concave Face putter between 1931 and 1934. This one is a very nice example.
