Made in the 1920s, this molded rubber head driver is marked "Speedway Links, Washington DC" inside a circle that surrounds an image of the United States Capital Building dome. Molded rubber-head drivers are one of the rarest clubs produced, seldom if ever located.  They were made with the hope of being indestructible. This one shows little evidence of use.  The grip is also unusual, consisting of a wrapped fabric-backed rubber-coated grip.

Overall, this club is in outstanding condition and the US Capital dome is clear and strong.  Most antique woods do not include a graphic on the crown. Of the few graphics that were used, this image of the US capital building is as good as it gets.

This is the very club pictured in TCA2 v1 p 372 and discussed on page 373.

A signed copy of the TCA2 page that shows this club will be included with this lot.  (The other clubs on the page are not included.)
