Devised by William Oke, this putter was covered under a British patent dated Feb 4, 1921. Its distinct 6 3/4 inch-long pencil hosel is not the only unusual feather on this club. The grip has a pear/teardrop shape in cross-section, with the narrow ridge running down the TOP of the grip! This thin line edge running along the top of the grip is in keeping with the thin hosel and top line.

The shaft directly below the grip is stamped "Regd No  691621" and also "A Tooley & Sons" in script. The Reg'd patent that covered this grip was issued to Tooley in 1922.  The shaft itself under the grip actually forms the unique shape of the grip. Nothing has been added.  Tooley advertised his grip as not only more comfortable for the golfers hands but also more effective in preventing any twisting, etc.  Much is written about this grip in TCA2 V2 p 676.  TCA2 V1 p 212-213 shows and discusses the Oke's thin hosel putter.

The club was sold by "J. Tickle - Muswell Hills GC" and is so stamped on the back of the head.

This is a great club in great original condition!
