Dating to the mid/late 1920s, this putter is quite distinct.  It is made with a celluloid head and has an inlaid brass soleplate stamped "Forgan, St. Andrews". The original 31 inch-long hickory shaft is visible on the sole as it has a drilled through hosel. The original leather-wrapped grip is square in shape.  But what will grab a person's attention the first time they pick up this club is its weight.  This putter is heavy! The backweight on this club must extend well into and fill much of the inside of the head. Because this club was original made with a 31 inch-long shaft, the auctioneer suspects it was designed to have a heavy head in an effort to provide a short club with the "horsepower" created by the leverage of a longer club.
