This putter is one of only two deep-cavity-back putters from the wood shaft era
the auctioneer has encountered. The other such putter, stamped "jack Routledge" atop the head, was made by the same maker and for all intents and purposes is identical to this one. The Rees Wizard putter has a cavity in the back
of the head, but it was designed to hold an alignment rod. This c.1920s putter appears to be heel/toe weighted by design. The shaft and leather-wrap grip are original. This putter is of considerable historic merit in the evoluton of the golf club.
