Measuring 33 1/2" long, this Tom Morris walking stick has its original lead backweight, sole horn with three pegs, and face insert which also has three pegs. The head of the club served as the handle. The end of the shaft was fit with a protective metal sleeve that contacted the ground.
Walking sticks were also sometimes call "Sabbath sticks." The church of Scotland discouraged golf on Sunday, but for some people out for a walk on the 7th day it was no problem to drop a ball and stroke it along with their walking stick reversed.
