This Ping Scottsdale Model 2A is in outstanding original condition, with its original dark patina, typical of early PING manganese bronze putters. There are no dings or nicks on the head.  The original 35 1/2 shaft has a Karsten-installed goose neck bend and is without flaw.  The original white Golf Pride Informer grip is all there, including the original trim at the base of the grip. The shaft retains an old owner's label.

There is a flat piece of old rubber inserted between both the front and rear blade and the front and rear side of the hosel, as shown in the next to last image.  These 2 rubber pieces served as sound dampening devices for those who did not care for the loud "Piiiiiiiing" sound.  As retold in And the Putter Went Ping on page 43, Karsten would slice of a sliver of rubber from an old tire he found alongside the road to solve this problem for any customers who desired a solution. Tim Reardon, the repair manager who grew tired of dealing with a large piece of an old tire taking space in the repair shop, asked Karsten if he could throw out the tire because the tire had been used around 3 times in the prior 5 years.  Karsten took measurements, then took the tire and cut some off.  He handed the small piece to Reardon and said, "Here, this should last us a thousand years."  That was Karsten.

These dampening pieces are usually easy enough to remove, but this putter is being sold with the dampeners in place, so the new owner can decide what they would like.
