Stamped "Slazenger" in the center of the lead inlaid in the back of the head, this wood mallet-head center-shafted putter has a thick brass face and sole plate that not only covers the entire face and sole, it is one solid piece. This wonderful club was likely made around 1905 or shortly thereafter when wooden mallet Schenectady-style putters were being produced in America. There is a fancy signature name stamped on the top of the head, but the auctioneer cannot quite read it correctly. The shaft and grip are original. As would be expected, the head of this club is heavy! Great character!
