The taller metal tee is made with a thin metal base and wire ball holder. It is designed to be stuck into the ground at an angle, so the club at impact would not come in contact with the base. The red tee, on the other hand, was designed to stick straight into the ground, with the head of the tee at a right angle to the base. This red tee appears to be made out of celluloid, but the auctioneer does not know for sure. The metal tee appears to be much older than the more refined red tee.
