In early 1967, Karsten Solheim entered into an agreement with Mark McCormick, the agent for Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player, that allowed Slazenger of England to sell Ping putters bearing the endorsement of Nicklaus.  This agreement lasted approximately three years.   ATPWP  p 93-94

By mid-1967, the Ping Echo was in Karsten’s Arsenal.  This Nicklaus Echo has been modified slightly.  The back of the topline of the blade, just behind the sweet spot has had a slight amount of material ground off—which can be seen in the image showing the back cavity.) Nicklaus Echo putters, however, are among the rarest Jack Nicklaus endorsed Ping putters.
