This circa 1885 lofter has its original shaft and sheepskin grip. The club measures 39" in length and the hosel measures 4 3/8" in length. A nice thing about this club is that it was made around 135 year ago—which is just before golf began to grow exponentially in the 1890s and thereafter—and it remains eminently affordable. When you grab this iron and give it a waggle, its significant head weight is easily felt. You know you are holding an old golf club. It's not typical of the 1920s, that is for sure! As further evidence of its age, the grain of the iron is visible on the face. A great older iron for the thrifty collector.
The ball included in one of the accompanying images is not part of this
lot. It is offered separately elsewhere in this auction.
