This is a brilliant golf club!  The beautiful long nose head, elegantly thin shaft, and the original thin and short sheepskin grip combine to make the perfect play club for a younger golfer. Anderson likely had an order in hand when he made this delicate instrument of joy.   

The head measures 1" in face depth, 5 1/2" in length, and 1 3/4" in depth. The shallow face makes it easier to get the ball up in the air. The shaft is distinctly thin much like the shaft on a featherball club, which is very helpful to a golfer lacking in power.  Plus it's short, measuring only 36 inches in length, which makes it really easy to swing if you are small. The sheepskin grip measures just 10 inches in length and is only slightly thicker than the shaft.  Perfect for smaller hands.   Overall, this entirely original juvenile play club is the picture of what a juvenile club should be.  Like has been said, this is a brilliant golf club!

Best of all, this club was made by Jamie Anderson, once the best golfer in the world and winner of the British Open three years in succession—1877, '78, '79.

In addition to being an outstanding golfer, Anderson was a skilled club and ball maker.  He was the first apprentice/assistant Robert Forgan employed after taking over Hugh Philp's business in 1856. When Tom Morris moved from Prestwick to St. Andrews in 1864, Anderson had learned to make golf balls working with his father, Old Daw.
