This first edition copy of "The Grip in Golf" measures 7 3/4" x 5" with a green cloth cover and the title in gilt lettering. It was printed by Golfers Magazine in 1922. Apparently, this was the first book in a potential series of books that the magazine was going to publish on different phases of the game. The contents are a collection of articles, opinions, and ideas by most of the noted players of the day on the grip. The preface opines "such a list of writers on this one important subject is an invaluable contribution to golf literature."

The flyleaf page contains a handwritten inscription from Chester G. Horton to Miss Anna Murphy and is dated March 14th 1923. Chester Horton, who sacrificed glory as a player to become a master teacher, is featured in the chapter "Horton on the Overlapping Grip," complete with photographs.

The book opens with a chapter from Chester's most successful student, Chick Evans, as well as featuring other experts of the game in text and photographs such as Harry Vardon, Francis Ouimet, Harold Frazer, P.A. Vaile, Jock Hutchinson, George Duncan Walter Hagen, (Miss) Marion Hollins, and others.

There is some speckling of discoloration on the front and back cover, with minimal wear on the edges. The pages are in great shape.
