Old School Driving irons--1 irons--are pretty much extinct in today's golf world. But it was the ability of Jack Nicklaus to hit his 1 iron, and with great height if needed, that helped set Jack apart from all the rest during the heart of his career. Remember the 71st hole at Pebble Beach when he hit the stick in a driving wind with his tee shot, and went on to win the 1972 Open? 1-Iron.
This circa late 1920s Walter Hagen iron offered here is stamped "1 Driving Iron" on the sole, and the back includes "1 Custom Built Driving Iron / Walter Hagen Graduated / Reg No 102." The 38" original shaft has a portion or its original "Walter Hagen" sticker still in tact.
After all these years, this club still looks good!
