This lovely Robert Simpson c. 1885 driver appears to have its original 44" shaft and grip. The name is clear on the top of the head.  Overall the beech head looks quite nice. There is a hairline crack in the fce but it is quite thin, does not run the full length of the face, and does not have a major impact on the presentation of the club. The face appears ever-so-lightly sanded.

Robert Simpson worked at Carnoustie beginning in 1883.  By 1885 he had a clubmaking operation in town.  He grew his business to become one of the great Scottish clubmakers by 1900. This club is an early example of a Simpson club and looks better than most.
