This miniature measuring tape is made from brass in the form of a gutta-percha ball that dates to the 1890's. The measuring ribbon inside the ball measures 40" inches in length (with centimeters marked on the opposite side) and even features a tiny crank to wind the ribbon back in. It could've easily fit into one's pocket and be used to measure a stymie or determine who is away on close putts—especially helpful when playing match play back in the day when stymie rules were in effect.
