Willie Dunn is one of Golf's most historic figures from the 19th century.  Hailing from Musselburgh, he and his twin brother Jamie were born the same year as Tom Morris and only 5 years after Allan Robertson.  Willie played in many a challenge match against the likes of Morris and Robertson, and like Morris, he made clubs.

He worked as the keeper of the green at Blackheath from 1851 to 1864. Then he moved to the Leith Thistle Club where he was the custodian of the links, and in 1870 he moved to Musselburgh where he set up his clubmaking business. Dunn passed away in 1878.

Marked "Wm. Dunn" on the crown, this circa 1870s putter remains in wonderful condition.  The finish on the head is original and Dunn's stamp is strong and clear. The shaft is original. The leather-wrap grip appears to be a replacement from years ago as does the hosel whipping.

Willie Dunn's hand-made clubs are difficult to come by and highly desirable, and this one is a clean, honest example
