Both poles on this ball, made by the North British Rubber Company, are marked "NB Rubber Co. Ltd." in a circle.  Inside the circle one pole is marked "Reg Design 590,217" which references a British registered design number that dates towards the end of 1911. Inside the circle on the other pole is "Patent 20778, 20/9/11" which references a British Patent dated Sept 20, 1911.

The pattern of lines connected to large dimples across the entire surface of this ball is highly unusual. Plus the fact that this ball appears virtually unused makes this a superb collectible in the world of early 20th century rubber core golf balls.

For the record, this ball is the real deal and NOT one of the replicas made overseas.  This is clear for a variety of reasons including the fact that those balls are clearly marked "COPY".

This Chick golf ball is in the very front of the golf ball group shot in the accompanying images. This group shot includes many other golf balls lots in this auction and demonstrates the remarkable evolutionary story of the golf ball, from feather ball to hand-hammered gutty, lathe line-cut red gutty, molded gutty, the Haskell and early rubber core balls.
