Instituted in 1608, Royal Blackheath Golf Club in South East London has a rich history that extends back over 400 years.  Published in 1897 and edited by W.E. Hughes, Chronicles of Blackheath Golfers with Illustrations and Portraits documents that history and is the first published history of any golf club. Chronicles of Blackheath Golfers is considered a cornerstone of any serious book collection.

Original gilt-decorated blue cloth. Top edge gilt. First edition.  245 pages. VG+ condition

Owners name "H.H. Turner, University Observatory, Oxford" inscribed on the inside of the front cover. The translucent velum paper over the title page has pulled loose halfway down the page.  The translucent vellum atop all the other images in the book appears to be in fine condition.

Some darkening to the cover at the top of the spine.  Book is kept in a mylar cover
