This lot consists of a mid 19th century smooth ball mold and a large, heavy ball press. The two items together weigh over 23 pounds. Each half of the smooth mold is marked "26 1/2" on their end. It was important to mark each half as each was made with great precision to match up with its other half. Mixing mold halves did not work so well....
Turning the handle atop of the press could tighten or loosen the mold inside the press. Everything is in working order.
The red smooth gutty ball shown in a one of the pictures is not part of this lot. It is offered as its own lot in this auction.
To provide perspective, the accompanying group images shows this lot with other lots in this auction.
