On June 9, 1956, amateur golfers across America could pay their money and participate in the National Golf Day, competing against Jack Fleck, the reigning US Open champion, if you were a man.  If you were a woman, you competed against the ladies US Open champ Fay Crocker.   Amateur golfers would compete on their home course, and the amateur golfers had full use of their handicap. If the amateurs net score was lower than the Pro's score on that day, the amateur would win a medal.  The medal enclosed in this little booklet case reads "I beat the champion Jack Fleck" and has an image of Fleck embossed on the medal.  The medal itself measures 1 1/4" across and the booklet case measures 2 1/2" by 3 1/4".

Between May 29 and June 6, 1961, Golfers participating in the National Golf Day would win if their net score was better than the score shot by the winner of a match between the 1960 PGA champ Jay Hebert and the 1960 US Open champ Arnold Palmer. The inaugural National Golf Day, sponsored by the PGA of America, was in 1952.
