This Park molded mesh gutty ball was made in 1898 by Willie Park Jr. in Edinburgh, Scotland. Golf magazine
described it as "fine and clearly nicked, of a unique mold, and well
painted....It is in all respects a splendid ball..." (June 24, 1898) Golf reported that this was the ball used by Willie Park Jr in the 1898 Open as well as in a big money match with fellow Open Champion, Willie Fernie. This particular ball offered here was clearly not the one in play, as it is in gorgeous condition. Unused in near Mint condition with 98% original paint, this ball still has its original luster.
This ball is 3rd row center in the group shot in the accompanying images.
