According to Kevin McGimpsey's Collectible Golf Balls Directory, this gutty ball was made by the Gutta Percha Company, London, in 1894. That makes it one is one of the earliest bramble balls as well as one of the first balls to sport a 6-Pole design. Stamped "Sovereign 27 1/2" on one of its four equator poles, this unused ball remains in near mint condition. The Harry B. Wood collection contained a Sovereign 27 1/2 ball.
This ball is top row left in the group shot in the accompanying images.
