This is an original wood block engraving that appeared in the March 26, 1870 issue of the London Illustrated News.  it is framed with a copy of the article that accompanied this wonderful piece of golf art, which is one of the earliest golf prints produced.

The print commemorates a 21-hole golf match between the London Scottish and Royal Blackheath Golf Clubs. The match was played at Blackheath on Tuesday March 15, 1870, and the two teams of twenty golfers played, according to the article, "in foursomes."  This is an early use of the word which the article defined as: "two of one side played against two of the other side."

This framed piece is in outstanding condition.  The print itself and the article are pristine.  The fact that this print is over 150 years old makes it special. Not many prints were produced prior to this one.
