Quoting from an ad released by the A. Schoenhut Company (Philadelphia, PA), "Schoenhut's Indoor Golf is one of those games that everybody can play....It is played with a stick resembling a golf stick, but in the place of the head there is a miniature golfing figure--'Tommy Green'--...who makes your strokes for you.
"You control the action of 'Tommy' through a lever located between your first and second fingers. It's the greatest sport imaginable. 'Tommy' drive[s], putt[s] or approach[es], just as in real golf, according to the kind of club you put between their fingers and according to your skill in operating the lever."
"You will find that it requires just as much skill and scientific
accuracy as a real game of outdoor golf—a truly worthwhile amusement."
Tommy here either pitched all of his original accompanying clubs and celluloid balls into the trash after a particularly rough round, or just prefers his wedge, as it is the only club that comes with him in this listing and he still swings it with gusto!
The metal plaque on the shaft includes the March 14, 1922 patent date for this item. The club is in perfect working order, although the shaft does have a slight bend, and the paint on the golfer is original.
