The game of Crolf was a hybrid of croquet and golf.  It was much like golf— striking a ball into a hole, but played on a much shorter course with holes measuring 40 to 150 yards in length.  Because the holes were short, the course could be laid out on no more than 5 acres.  John Wilson applied for a US patent on his Crolf clubs in 1921.  It was issued in 1925.  The head is a duplex club, with a smooth, circular face on each end of the head, one face having more loft than the other.

The head on this particular Crolf club, originally marked “Crolf” on one side of the head and “Pat” on the other, has been cleaned.  The club shows little evidence of use and measures 36” in length.  The grip has been replaced with a sueded leather-wrap grip. The shaft appears to be original.
