A stylish club in fabulous condition makes for an absolutely fabulous stylish club! Even better, this club is a c. 1890 McEwan brassy baffing spoon. Made at the end of the long nose era, this club possess all the characteristics of a baffing spoon designed to hit short, elevated shots. The clubhead is quite broad front to back and the face is deep and well-lofted. Plus, at 38", the shaft is short.  The head measures 4 3/4" long by 2 1/4" wide. The face is 1 1/4" deep.  The brass plate on the sole increased the durability of the head and allowed this club to play shots from rocky lies all depending on how rocky the lie.  The face itself could still be damaged if too many rocks.

Fortunately for us, this club never came close to a single rock and shows little to no use. The shaft is original, stamped "McEwan Special Selected," as is the grip, which is a coated sheepskin grip.  The sheepskin is apparent at the top of the grip where some of the coating has worn off.

McEwan was one of the greatest names in the clubmaking world, and this McEwan is a brilliant club beautifully made.
